Gaetano Donizetti

Gaetano Donizetti (1797–1848) was an opera composer from Bergamo, best known for L'elisir d'amore and Lucia di Lammermoor. Melody you can play here: Una Furtiva Lagrima (The Elixir of Love).

He wrote around 70 operas. The tenor aria Una furtiva lagrima (1832) from L'elisir d'amore is one of the most famous in the repertoire. His older brother Giuseppe Donizetti worked as a musician in Istanbul.
