Johann Pachelbel (1653–1706) was an organist and composer from Nuremberg, best known for his Canon in D. Melody you can play here: Canon in D.
The Canon, written for three violins over a repeating bass line, was almost forgotten until the 20th century and is now a favourite at weddings. He also wrote a great deal of organ music and taught Johann Christoph Bach, the older brother of Johann Sebastian.
